The sun dips below the horizon, painting the sky in strokes of ember and violet. Porch lights flicker on, one by one, like stars announcing the night’s most anticipated ritual—trick or treat. Across the neighborhood, tiny witches, superheroes, and mischievous ghosts tug at their capes, adjusting masks and clutching plastic pumpkins, their excitement bubbling louder than the rustle of dry autumn leaves.
Behind every door lies a little mystery: will it be chocolate, caramel, or perhaps a playful scare from a neighbor who takes Halloween just a bit too seriously? Parents trail behind, half-guardians, half-photographers, capturing fleeting smiles under the pale gaze of the moon.
And yet, beneath the laughter and sugary frenzy, there’s an old whisper in the air—the kind that reminds us that Halloween is more than costumes and candy. It’s the one night when the ordinary world lets its imagination roam free, when every shadow might hold a story and every child becomes the hero—or the ghost—of their own adventure.
So, as the doorbells ring and laughter fills the night, remember: it’s not just candy they’re collecting. It’s magic.
