Famous Haitian poet Georges Castra dies

The literary world suffered a great loss with the passing of Georges Castra last Friday January 24. Castra was an impeccable figure of contemporary Haitian poetry. He was a committed activist whose works were published in both Creole and French. Some of his Creole poems have been set to music. Author of the famous collection “Ink is my home”, the poet, designer lived exile in France, Spain and the United States before returning to settle in Haiti after the fall of the Duvalier dictatorial regime in 1986. He was 83.
