From Flagler County all the way to Nassau County, Tropical storm Colin tightens its grip on the First Coast of the Sunshine State. According to the weather service, the storm is picking up speed as it is closing in on First Coast. Edging from the west, Colin is said to be a lopsided system with maximum sustained rain at 50 mph.

The area has been under the gun since late last night when the first bands of wind and rain moved through. The rain picked up early this afternoon in the Jacksonville metro area, where several sections of the nation’s largest city were reportedly to be flooded.

Residents have been advised to stay indoors while Colin sluggishly pushes its way through Northeast Florida. As of 6 o’ clock, Colin was reported to be located some 60 miles in the Gulf of Mexico. Heavy rain is expected throughout the night and until tomorrow morning.
