We knew she was sick, but we never expected such sudden departure. Former “American Idol” contestant and model Joanne Borgella has died after battling cancer. She was 32. It was her family who posted the news on her Facebook page Saturday. “With heavy hearts, we are deeply saddened to announce the passing of our beloved Joanne,” the message read wrote. “On Saturday, October 18, 2014 at 5:45AM, Joanne Borgella Ramirez was called by the Lord to heaven. At an early age, Joanne made a choice to serve and trust the Lord; and since her diagnosis over a year ago, Joanne made a choice to also be a fighter and share her journey with the world.”
Borgella was an oversized model who competed on the seventh season of “Idol” in 2008, where she finished in the top 24. Before that, she won “Mo’Nique’s Fat Chance” show in 2005. CSMS Magazine had a piece on her back in 2008. You can read the piece here (Joanne Borgella is off to a bumpy start.) May our beautiful princess rest in peace.
