Garcelle Beauvais is poised to stage a comeback

Last October, Haitian-born actress, Garcelle Beauvais was visibly noticeable as she entered the Carousel of Hope Ball in Beverly Hills, California. Garcelle, who took Hollywood by storm years ago, is revered not only for her distinguishingly acting style, but also—and specially—for her Creole beauty, her bronze beauty described in the press last October as a tangerine dream in a Kevan Hall gown “and Chopard diamond.” Primarily known for her acting work on the TV sitcom The Jamie Foxx Show and on the drama NYPD Blue,  Garcelle delivered twin babies last year almost seven years after she married talent agent Mike Nilon. The twins were the first children for the interracial couple, who have been married since 2001. However, Garcelle was already the mother of a 16-year-old son named Oliver from a previous marriage.

Garcelle was born in the Haitian coastal town of St. Marc, 60 miles north of the Haitian capital, Port-au-Prince. She moved to the United States at a very young age. She entered the Showbiz during her teenage years as a model and rose to fame of fashion modeling at 17 when she signed to the Ford Modeling Agency. Garcelle quickly became a hot, supermodel, gracing the pages of Essence and Ebony and appeared in catalogs for Neiman Marcus and Nordstrom, along with print advertisement campaigns for brands such as AVON, and Clairol. However, many Haitians cannot stand to watch her nude pictures released in Play Boy magazine 2 years ago. They cannot understand why she agreed to pause for PB., a move totally at odds with the Haitian culture.     

Garcelle also collaborated in music videos with Luther Vandross and R. Kelly in which she played the role as Mr. Biggs’ woman Lila Hart in the surreal and sad Down Low (Nobody Has to Know). She was also the star in the thriller I Know Who Killed Me along with Lindsay Lohan and Julia Ormond released last year.
