Beauty of course always rests in the eyes of the beholder. This exuberant négresse is without question the personification of beauty at its purest. She has an innocent gaze that cannot be ignored—a timid smile that at first glance sheds an air of purity that all black women yearn for. As we celebrate black history, it is important that our blackness be brandished, flashed out, exhibited in a grandstanding way.
