Few weeks ago, I had the privilege to speak with author Rachel Le Mesurier. She’s written an interesting book titled Artie’s Courage. It is a historical romance novel depicting a story of love and courage in the face of adversity. Esperanza, the protagonist and the daughter of a wealthy landowner, resists her parents who want her to marry Don Raul, a handsome, rich, spoiled man. Instead, she falls in love with Arturo, a street musician.
Despite countless efforts by Don Raul who wants to get her at all costs, Esperanza manages to fend off all manipulative moves to stay true to her love for Arturo. This is one of those stories where pure love always comes out on top.
As she told me during our conversation, Rachel drew inspirations for this novel from her grandfather who knew about the Mexican revolution and the stories of men and women who had to brave unforeseen pitfalls to remain true to themselves. Her grandfather’s lineage can be traced back to that part of the world.
Artie’s Courage is book 1 of a trilogy named The Musician’s Promise Series. Rachel Lemesurier lives with her husband and child on the island of Guernsey in the English Channel.
