One of the things that can easily screw up a relationship is dishonesty. Most men like to brag about what they don’t actually have. I understand in this materialistic society, wealth has a lot to do with how the narrative of a love story is read. If someone lives in an uptown world, he might certainly end up with a soul mate of that same environment. But if you live in a modest neighborhood, don’t pretend you live in the most exclusive section in town. Love can never take root in a lie. It’s important to be yourself. If your lady agrees to go on a date because of what she perceives you to be, not because of what she feels, chances are her love is only skin-deep. Money might be able to buy a little bit of happiness, not love. If she didn’t love you, it’s not your money that will give her the change of heart.
Be honest about your job. It’s okay to talk about what you do even if it’s not all that fascinating. However, there’s a fine line between right and wrong. The janitor who says he’s a “master of custodial art!” is not quite as dishonest as the life-insurance salesman who says he’s an investment banker. Don’t be ashamed of your job. No matter what you do, whether you love it or hate it, find a way to make it seem interesting, and speak about it positively and with enthusiasm. If a person asks you more than three questions about what you do, consider that mission accomplished and move on to other subjects like personal interests, family, etc… Discussing your careers is an easier way to start a conversion, but if the whole night becomes just about your job, then it has turned into a networking event instead of a date.
