This week in the conversation, I had the honor to hold a frantic talk with Lunine Pierre-Jérôme, a longtime advocate for Haitian Creole. She teaches at Cambridge College in the Graduate School of Education. In addition, she is the Academic Director of the Haitian Creole Institute, a University of Massachusetts-based summer program that has been in existence for more than thirty-years. The main topic of our conversation was her advocacy on behalf the Creole language and her works as a translator. Lunine has translated several literary works into Creole. As a matter fact, she is currently an Advisor in the association, a member of JEBCA Editions’ Leadership Committee, an associate of Haitian Language and Culture Center (HLCC).
