Katia Cadet: a songstress who sings from the heart

By Christine Jean-Pierre

CSMS Magazine Staff Writer

After a long pause, CSMS Magazine is back into displaying to its loyal readers all the best of the Caribbean music, and this week, the artist on the plate is Katia Cadet, a new Haitian artist leaping her way into the music world. She is embarking into an endeavor where few artists of her kind dare to venture. She is displaying a talent gearing toward both Zouk and R&B. To prove her impressive skills, she’s just released a new video on YouTube entitled With You, and, according to various news outlets, the video is poised to be a hit among the Zouk lovers everywhere.

Katia is also well versed in both English and French on top of her pure, sweet Creole, which makes her future as a songstress all the more promising.

The single stems from her new album titled Boundless. Many say that the album itself lacks the original feel that most Creole partygoers move until wee hours in the morning. But Katia’s strong filtered voice, her feline demeanor powered by an exuberant posture are some of the assets—besides her voice—that will ultimately put her over the top.

Born in Haiti and raised in Montreal, Canada, Katia Cadet appears to have been around the music industry for some time. She has received writing credit for the hit single “911” performed by Wycelf Jean and Mary J. Blige, and she may also have collaborated with some other prominent names in the industry, although we have not been able to confirm this assertion.

The promising new sensation is ready to use her multi-cultural background to take the world by storm. Boundless was produced by Kaysha, a well known Congolese Zouk producer who lives in Paris.

Katia is being promoted by Heavytone Records which is an independent record label based in New York.  Katia Cadet seems to breaking into the Zouk-R&B genre by working with Zouk hit producers such as Kaysha. The Morning Eyes is currently in the process of contacting Katia Cadet for an exclusive interview. We hope it happens soon.
