Special to CSMS magazineChristopher Maurice Brown AKA (also know as) Chris Brown is one of the hottest young stars in the R&B game. Every piece of work that he put out there has been critically acclaimed. One of the two children of Joyce Hawkins and Clinton Brown, Chris was born may 5, 1989 in the small town of Tappahannock, Virginia. Chris Brown gained his love for music when he was sent to live with his aunt in Arkansas. Influenced by Michael Jackson, Sam Cooke, Prince, and Usher, Chris and his cousin would perform in talent shows.                Chris brown has been dancing since the age of two, but he didn’t really pay attention to his vocal ability until the age of eleven. At first, Chris brown was interested in becoming a rapper. At the age of thirteen, a local production team, who visited his father’s gas station looking for new talent, discovered Chris. Shortly thereafter, Chris started his recording career and moved to New York for two years.              Chris Brown local production team organized an audition before Def Jam Vice president, Tina Davis, who later worked as his manager. At the age of 15, Chris was then sent to perform for L.A. Reid, and was subsequently signed in 2004 to Jive Records. By early 2005, Chris began to work for his debut album, working with Scott Storch, The Underdogs, Dre, Vidal, Bryan Cox, Bow Wow, and Jermaine Dupri.              By late 2004, Chris Brown left school to begin working on his new album. His first singles run it was #1 in the United States, New Zealand, and Australia. Following run it was Yo (Excuse Me Miss), which became Chris’ second top 10 hit in the US. His third single Gimme That, featuring Lil Wayne for a remix, wasn’t on Chris Brown album, but later was included. The single debuted on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 at #80 and quickly went up the chart to #15.            Chris Brown also co-directed his music video for Yo (Excuse Me Miss) and Gimme That. Chris Brown’s fourth single, Say Goodbye, makes everybody sees a softer side of him. Say Goodbye is also on the Step Up soundtrack. With this album, Chris Brown won three Billboard Awards in 2006. His album debuted at #4 on the Billboard 200 and #2 on the Billboard Top R&B/Hip Hop Albums. I love acting.  He doesn’t only want to make music; he also wants to get into acting. Since then, he has been seeing on UPN’s One on One and The N’s The Brandon T. Jackson Show. Chris Brown also went to the big screen when he made his appearance in the dance movie Stomp The Yard with Neyo, Meagan Good, and Columbus Short in January of 2007.  Chris Brown next big movie was This Christmas, a family drama that came out last November.            Last summer, Chris Brown celebrated his 18th birthday in New York on an episode on MTV show My Super Sweet16.           Chris brown most recent work was when he made his appearance on a Disney Show The Suit life of Zack and Cody along with the Cheetah Girls.
